This new education program, entitled “Step Up to a Healthier You,” was created to meet the curriculum needs of 7th and 8th grade family and consumer science teachers. With an emphasis on the USDA’s new MyPyramid food guide, this program will teach students about sources of protein and the safe handling of meats. Included in the program are 3 reproducible activity masters for classroom interaction and discussion, a take-home insert with cooking tips and quick and easy pork recipes, and a wall poster featuring MyPyramid and the recommended nutrient intakes from each food group, based on exercise and age.
